حصل على درجة الماجستير  من قسم الهندسة الكهربائية

سافر من مصر إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية  ليحصل على درجة الدكتوراه

عام 1975
حصل على درجة الدكتوراه من جامعة ستانفورد بولاية كاليفورنيا  
وكانت عن استكشاف حلقات زحل باستخدام موجات الراديو

شارك  فى فريق البحوث التابع لوكالة ناسا للفضاء و الخاص برحلة  مركبة الفضاء ڤويچر الى كواكب المشتري و زحل و اورانس، و نبتون

اختارته وكالة ناسا  بصفة دائمة ضمن فريق البحوث المختص برحلة مركبة الفضاء ( كاسينى )  التى تدور حول كوكب زحل لدراسة مكونات الكوكب وبحاره الشاسعة وحلقاته الشهيرة و غلافه الجوي ومجاله المغناطيسي.

Dr. Marouf is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering. He is a past recipient of the SJSU President’s Scholar Award, the CoE Excellence in Scholarship award, and the Newnan Brothers Award for Faculty Excellence. Prof. Marouf obtained his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering (major) and Computer Science (minor) from Stanford University in 1975. He joined SJSU in 1990, where he teaches and guides research in the areas of Digital Signal Processing and Communications. From 1975 to 1990, he was a Senior Research Scientist at the Space, Telecommunications, and Radioscience (STAR) Laboratory, Stanford University. Since 1975, Prof. Marouf has been involved in planetary exploration by robotic spacecraft, bringing traditional Electrical Engineering tools to bear on exploration of planets and moons of our solar system. Since 1991, he has been a Member of the NASA selected Radio Science Team of the Cassini-Huygens Mission to Saturn, an ongoing international endeavor by the U.S. and sixteen European countries. From 1979 to 1989, he was an Associate Member of the Radio Science Team of the Voyager Mission to Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Prof. Marouf served as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator of many completed research projects related to planetary exploration.‏
